I play music regularly at Dryden Theatre - the repertory cinema theater at the George Eastman Museum in downtown Rochester, with my wife Cynthia who is a violinist. This month's recital will feature Beethoven's 5th sonata in c minor, Op. 10 No. 1. This one marks a return for the composer (since the Electoral Sonatas) to a three-movement structure, which is an important step towards the various forms of experimentation that come in later sonatas. To celebrate this, I have created a program that consists entirely of 3-movement works. And to make the occasion extra festive, I've included works by composers of several different countries.
